Nokia reaction

HELSINKI (Reuters) - The world's largest mobile handset maker Nokia said on Thursday it expects Apple Inc.'s decision to produce a mobile phone will stimulate the market.

"I don't think that what we have seen so far (from Apple) is something that would any way necessitate us changing our thinking when it comes to openness, our software and business approach," Nokia Chief Executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo told a conference call with analysts.

"But the fact that Apple is entering the market, in general, I think will stimulate this market, it's very clear."

"I think it will be good for the industry and I very much welcome that."

four reasons to buy an iphone

iPod inside When you buy an iPhone you will also get an iPod! This iPod function is very nice because of the big screen. You can play music as well as video.

iPhone visual voicemail feature The iPhone also has a very nice voicemail function. It’s a so called visual voicemail. With the visual voicemail you can go directly to any message. You don’t have to listen to the other messages first. I think this is a very nice iPhone feature. Now you don’t have to waste any time by listening to other messages…

iPhone internet feature The iPhone features a HTML email client and the best mobile browser, Safari. You can easily synchronize bookmarks from your Mac or PC.

iPhone Google maps feature With Google maps and the maps application from the iPhone you can view maps and satellite images. You can also go directly to traffic information. A nice feature nowadays…

There are a lot more iPhone features but the four I mentioned are a few reasons why I will by the iPhone. I also like the touch function. No more buttons to press…

Steve Jobs for president

Are you so bored that you literally have no other worthwhile activity to occupy the next three minutes of your time? Then you’re in luck. Click here or below and watch Jason make his case for Apple Inc.’s Steve Jobs and former Secretary of State Colin Powell as 2008 “dream horses”. And don’t tune out before FoxNews’s Steve Doocy refers to Jason as “the horse whisperer of politics.” (hmm, we see t-shirts coming soon…)

Macromedia Flash inside iphone

New York Times reporter John Markoff asked Steve Jobs a few probing questions regarding what the iPhone can, and can’t do.

The following is a transcript of one of Markoff’s questions:

Markoff: “And what are you thinking about Flash and Java?”

Jobs: “Java’s not worth building in. Nobody uses Java anymore. It’s this big heavyweight ball and chain.”

Markoff: “Flash?”

Jobs: “Well, you might see that.”

Markoff: “What about YouTube–”

Jobs: “Yeah, YouTube—of course. But you don’t need to have Flash to show YouTube. All you need to do is deal with YouTube.”

So, Steve Jobs, you “don’t need to have Flash to show YouTube” do you?

The help section off the YouTube homepage has this to say:

The video won’t play—what’s wrong? All of the videos on YouTube are streamed through a Flash player, so you need to have the latest version of Macromedia Flash installed on your computer. To download it, please visit Adobe.

In other words, if Apple does plan on giving full support to YouTube, then we can expect they will give full support to having a Flash player on the upcoming iPhone.

Introducing apple iphone

iPhone combines three products:

a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device.

iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers. So it ushers in an era of software power and sophistication never before seen in a mobile device, completely redefining what you can do on a mobile phone.

iphone history

A few years ago Steve Jobs noticed all the research money spent into Tablet PCs and had a team of Apple engineers working on a tablet interface with touch screen. And so, the iPhone was born. What is interesting is that around this time, rumors of an Apple tablet had reemerged. Whispers of an Apple Tablet project began to resurface in late 2002 and peaked prior to Macworld SF 2003. No tablet came, but the description was an 8-inch multimedia device running Mac OS X. It appears that these rumors were likely true and based on this project.
